I recently read a book so epic that it went straight to the top of my list for Best Books read in 2012!
What book is it?
Let me tell you this book rates right up there with Stormdancer by Jay Kristoff. If you haven’t read Stormdancer than you must. You really, really must!
The book featured this week is…
Surrounded by enemies, the once-great nation of Ravka has been torn in two by the Shadow Fold, a swath of near impenetrable darkness crawling with monsters who feast on human flesh. Now its fate may rest on the shoulders of one lonely refugee.
Alina Starkov has never been good at anything. But when her regiment is attacked on the Fold and her best friend is brutally injured, Alina reveals a dormant power that saves his life—a power that could be the key to setting her war-ravaged country free. Wrenched from everything she knows, Alina is whisked away to the royal court to be trained as a member of the Grisha, the magical elite led by the mysterious Darkling.
Yet nothing in this lavish world is what it seems. With darkness looming and an entire kingdom depending on her untamed power, Alina will have to confront the secrets of the Grisha…and the secrets of her heart.
I know that I am late getting on this bandwagon, but I am telling you it is better late than never. This book was awesome.
You can see my review of Shadow and Bone here, at goodreads.
If you have read and loved this book why not take a little quiz to see how well you remember it.
Sound like a good idea? I think so too.
Are you ready?
How did you do? Did it bring back memories?
As I said early, I loved this book. I thought it was not only original but kept me guessing about what would happen. I loved the world that Leigh Bardugo created. I even loved the Darkling, however, Mal gets my vote. I can’t wait till the next book. I can only hope I will be lucky enough to receive and ARC because I don’t know if I can wait till June of 2013.
I hope you had fun. Have a great week.
